Use the asset board

The asset board is a full-screen, live view of every asset on a production board for one site. In Bulk, an asset is a machine or workstation on the shop floor, such as a press brake or a laser cutter, and a site is one plant or location. The board shows which assets are running, paused, or stopped, who last used each one, which jobs are loaded, and how the site is tracking, so a supervisor or a wall-mounted display can read the floor without opening any records.

The board is designed to be left open on a screen. It runs without the app sidebar and refreshes on its own as operators start, pause, and stop work.

When to use the asset boardCopy Anchor Link

Use the asset board when you want a shared, always-on picture of live production for a single site. Common uses:

• Mount it on a screen above the shop floor so operators and supervisors see current status.
• Keep it open on a monitor at a team lead's desk during a shift.
• Glance at how many assets are running right now, and which ones are stopped and why.
• See the jobs loaded on each asset, and who last used the timer or logged downtime.
• Track today's output against target, and the last 24 hours of activity, efficiency, and productivity.

For a per-asset history over time, or a breakdown of stop reasons, use the OEE timeline and OEE dashboards instead. The asset board answers "what is happening now," not "what happened last week."

You need the following to view a useful board:

• The View OEE analytics permission (analytics.view_oee). This permission loads the board's data. It is granted by the Super user, Entity admin, Manager, and Dashboards roles by default. OEE stands for Overall Equipment Effectiveness, the standard measure of how well equipment is used.
• Active assets on the site. A board configured in settings chooses which assets appear and which name shows in the header. With no board saved, the page still lists every active asset under the name Asset Board. If that list is empty, the page shows an empty state instead of cards.
• A site (entity) selected in Bulk. The board always reflects one site at a time.

1. Open the Analytics menu.
2. Select Asset Board. The board opens at /analytics/assets-board.

The board loads the site's default board first. It fills the whole screen and hides the sidebar so it reads well on a wall display. The header shows the board name, with the site name under it. That header is where you switch boards when the site has more than one.

On a wide screen, four figures sit in one plain row on the same background as Home. They are not coloured health tiles, and they do not show HIGH, MEDIUM, or LOW.

• Active is how many assets are running right now, out of the assets on the board. It reads as a count over the total, such as 51 / 88.
• Efficiency is recorded-time efficiency for the production day: running time divided by running time plus downtime, as a percentage.
• Productivity is the latest hour's output, shown per hour.
• Output is today's output against the day's target, written the same way as Active: the count, a slash, then the target.

Each figure has a sparkline for the last 24 hours, labelled Last 24h.

• The Active sparkline counts how many assets had recorded running time in each hour. It is green when that average is at least 66 percent of the board, amber when it is at least 33 percent and below 66 percent, and red below 33 percent.
• The Efficiency sparkline is recorded-time efficiency for each hour. Using the default colour bands, it is green at 95 percent or above, amber at 70 percent or above and below 95 percent, and red below 70 percent. An hour with no recorded running or downtime is a gap in the line, not a zero.
• The Productivity sparkline is hourly output over those 24 hours, drawn in purple.
• The Output sparkline uses that same hourly output. Its colour follows today's progress against the target, with the same default bands: green at 95 percent or above, amber at 70 percent or above and below 95 percent, and red below 70 percent. With no target, the sparkline is neutral grey.

Active is a live count. Efficiency and Output follow the production day, which starts at the board's day reset time. Productivity is the latest hour. The sparklines are always the trailing 24 hours, so they do not clear when the production day resets.

If a board has stored different efficiency bands, the Efficiency sparkline and the Output sparkline use those bands instead of 95 and 70. The Active bands stay at 66 and 33 percent.

Below the summary, the board shows one card per asset, sized to fit the screen and the number of assets. On large displays the grid scales up so a wall screen stays readable.

Each card shows:

• A bay number taken from the digits in the asset code, the asset code, and the asset type.
• Who last used the station: their photo or initials and first name. That is whoever most recently started or stopped a timer, or opened or closed downtime, on that asset. Hover the name to see the full name. If nobody has done that yet, the card leaves this blank.
• The job numbers loaded on the asset, oldest first. Up to four numbers show. Further jobs appear as a + count.
• A large status icon and a live timer for how long the asset has been in its current state. The timer updates every second. Under a day it reads as hours, minutes, and seconds.
• On a paused or stopped card, a downtime reason chip when a reason name is recorded.
• A 24-hour OEE sparkline. The percentage sits above the line, and the chart is labelled 24h. With the default bands it is green at 95 percent or above, amber at 70 percent or above and below 95 percent, and red below 70 percent. Quiet hours are gaps, not zeros. The sparkline is hidden when the last 24 hours have no recorded running or downtime.

Cards do not show Worked, Rate, or Output.

The card's colour and icon come from live shop-floor activity:

• Running (green, play icon): a production timer is actively counting at the asset.
• Paused (pause icon): work is paused by a timer or a sensor. The card takes its colour from the downtime reason's OEE category. Availability is red, Performance is amber, and Quality is blue. If the reason has no category, the card is amber.
• Stopped (red, square icon): work is stopped against a downtime reason a person entered by hand.
• Idle (grey): no timer is running at the asset.

Understand the status legendCopy Anchor Link

A legend is fixed to the bottom of the board so anyone reading the screen can decode the colours. It shows swatches for Running, Paused, and Idle. The paused swatches are split by OEE category:

• Availability losses (the equipment was not available to run), in red.
• Performance losses (it ran slower than it should), in amber.
• Quality losses (output had to be scrapped or reworked), in blue.

A paused card uses that category colour. A stopped card, from a reason entered by hand, is red as well, so use the icon and the reason chip to tell a hand-entered stop from an Availability pause. The legend does not add a separate Stopped swatch. It also shows a Last updated time with a small live indicator that signals when the board last refreshed.

Switch between boardsCopy Anchor Link

The board name is in the header, with the site name under it. That control is where you switch boards.

When the site has two or more boards:

1. Open the board name in the header.
2. Choose another board from the Switch board list. The board you are viewing is highlighted. The current menu uses text-only rows. Choose the default board in Settings, under OEE, Asset Board.

Switching boards adds the chosen board's ID to the page address as a board query parameter, so you can bookmark a specific board or pair a display to it. If the site has only one board, the header still shows that board's name and the site name, but it does not open a list.

How the board stays liveCopy Anchor Link

The board keeps itself current without a manual refresh:

• It updates within seconds when operators start, pause, or stop timers, or record output, because it listens for those changes.
• Counts and timers refresh on their own roughly every half a minute while the tab is visible.
• It refreshes immediately when you return to the tab, or when the connection comes back after a drop.
• The 24-hour sparklines refresh when those production writes land, and about every five minutes while the tab is visible.

Daily figures, such as efficiency and output, reset at the board's configured Day Reset Time in the site's time zone. For example, a reset time of 6 AM means the production day runs from 6 AM to 5:59 AM the next day. The sparklines do not use that reset. They always cover the trailing 24 hours.

Example: Gotham Applied Sciences shop-floor boardCopy Anchor Link

Wayne Enterprises runs Gotham Applied Sciences. The shift supervisor wants the team to see live status without asking around, so a monitor on the wall shows the Gotham Shop Floor board.

The header reads Gotham Shop Floor, with Gotham Applied Sciences under the name. Mid-morning, the supervisor glances up and reads the floor:

• Active reads 5 / 8, so five of the eight assets are running right now.
• Bays LC-01 and LC-02 (laser cutters) are green and running, each with a live timer and a 24-hour OEE sparkline.
• Bay PB-03 (a press brake) is paused with the reason "Material changeover." That reason is an Availability loss, so the card is red. The pause icon shows it is not a hand-entered stop.
• Bay WB-04 (a weld bay) is red and stopped, with a square icon and the reason "Tooling fault," entered by the operator.
• Two bays are grey and idle because no timer is running there.
• Cards that have a recent timer or downtime event show that person's photo or initials and first name.
• Loaded job numbers sit on the cards that have work on them.
• Output reads the day's count against the target, because the board is linked to the plant's daily output KPI.

The supervisor sees the changeover on PB-03 is expected, but the tooling fault on WB-04 needs attention, and walks over to help. No report needed, just a glance.

You have a full-screen, self-updating view of one site's assets. Anyone looking at the screen can tell, without clicking, how many assets are running, which ones are stopped and why, who last used them, which jobs are loaded, and how today's output is tracking against target.

Limitations and availabilityCopy Anchor Link

• The asset board is generally available.
• The board is read-only. You view status here. Creating boards, adding or removing assets, choosing the default board, and setting the reset time are done in settings. See Configure the asset board.
• The header always shows the board name and the site name. The list you use to switch only appears when the site has two or more boards. With one board, that board loads and the header does not open a menu.
• Output needs a linked target. Until the board is linked to a Daily Output KPI and a target is set for the day, the target reads 0 and the Output sparkline stays neutral grey. See Set KPI targets.
• The station OEE sparkline can be absent. A card hides it when the last 24 hours have no recorded running or downtime.
• Status comes from live production activity. An asset shows as Idle whenever no timer is running at it, even if it is physically working, because the board reads production timers and downtime events. Paused and stopped states, and their reasons, come from the downtime events operators record.
• The board reflects one site at a time. Switch the selected site to see a different plant.

TroubleshootingCopy Anchor Link

• The board shows "No assets configured." The asset list for this view is empty. Select Go to settings on that screen, or open Settings and then OEE and then Asset Board, and add assets to a board. See Configure the asset board.
• The board will not load or shows an error. Confirm your role has the View OEE analytics permission. Without it, the board cannot read its data.
• An asset you expect is missing. It is either not on this board's asset list or it is inactive. Edit the board to add it, or switch to a board that includes it.
• Every asset shows as Idle. No production timers are running for those assets. Live status comes from timers on the shop floor. See Run production timers.
• A card shows a stop but no reason name. The downtime event has no reason attached, so the card cannot name it. A reason with no OEE category still shows its name, and the paused card falls back to amber. See Configure downtime reasons.
